Scott C. Verges
Scott specializes in real estate law, including purchases and sales, leasing, financing, exchanges, joint ventures and related transactional real estate matters. His clients include many of the largest real estate developers, institutional lenders and real estate investment trusts on the West coast.
Scott is a 1980 graduate of the Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley, where he was an associate editor of the California Law Review. Scott is the former Chairman of the Real Estate Finance Subsection of the State Bar. He is also a former editor of the California Real Property Journal. Scott is a frequent lecturer for the California Continuing Education of the Bar and other forums on a variety of real estate issues. His publications include many articles on real estate subjects, including construction lending, participating mortgages, insurance advice for the real estate practitioner and transferable development rights. He is the author of the CEB Action Guide, "Handling Real Property Sales Transactions."
Scott is a business and solution oriented real estate attorney. He brings a broad and deep understanding of both the legal and economic issues in each real estate transaction to help his clients arrive at the most practical and workable solutions to their problems.
Scott is married to Cynthia Verges, who is a retired environmental litigator. They have one daughter, Sophie, and reside in Berkeley, California.
