Robert T. Burke
Bob specializes in estate planning and administration, and also practices as a business lawyer. By combining his many years experience as a transactional attorney for business owners with his knowledge of estate planning issues, Bob is well qualified to address the needs of owners of closely held businesses who believe it is prudent to plan for their death or disability. When clients need legal asistance upon the death of their loved ones, Bob facilitates the administration of the decedent's estate.
Bob was graduated from the UCLA School of Law in 1972, where he was Chief Articles Editor of the UCLA Law Review. He received his B.A. from Santa Clara University in 1965, and an M.A. from UCLA in 1966, both in Economics. Before law school, Bob served two years as an officer in the Army Corps of Engineers in Germany. Bob practiced with the San Francisco law firm of Pettit & Martin for 23 years before joining MBV Law LLP in 1995. He became a partner at his former firm in 1979, and was appointed head of the business department there in 1992.
Estate planning is a uniquely personal aspect of the practice of law. Bob believes that if he clarifies the often complex legal issues relevant to decisions that must be made in the event of death, disability or retirement, his clients are better able to express their wishes for implementation by him.
Bob and his wife, Heidi Burke, have been married for more than 30 years and have two putatively adult sons.
