Rick specializes in business and design law, including structuring and negotiating complex transactions, forming the entities involved and drafting the necessary documentation. He has over twenty years of experience in private placements of securities; formation and organization of corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies; review and negotiation of architecture and engineering contracts; and general business counseling. Rick also has substantial expertise in assisting A/E firms in complying with state licensing requirements.
Rick received his J.D., cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in 1988, and his B.A., cum laude, from UCLA in 1983.
From 1988 through 1990, Rick was an associate with the San Francisco law firm of Pettit & Martin. Prior to joining MBV Law LLP, Rick served as Assistant General Counsel of Real Property Services Corp., a diversified real estate investment, syndication, development and management company.
His years of in-house experience taught Rick to practice law with a practical, business-oriented approach. Working intimately with the executives and accountants at his former company gave him an insider‘s perspective on how clients want practical, cost-effective solutions to their legal problems.
Rick lives in Oakland, California, with his wife and daughter. He is active on his daughter’s school gardening committee and leads her class in weekly gardening activities.
